FARFALLA

Designer, Stylist and Creative Director of LOCAL DESIGN launched a new collection of rugs produced by Designer Rugs during Milan Design Week 2017, called “Farfalla”.

Taken from the Italian word, meaning butterfly. Emma Elizabeth speed dated creative director of Moroso, Patrizia Moroso, through an initiative by Hub Furniture, in Sydney, during her trip last year. Emma showed Patrizia her concept of which they both drew joy and excitement from, hence why Emma then went onto create the new rug designs for Salone.

The “Farfalla” textile is created by printing, the left and right wing of a butterfly. Then shredding into thin lines the image and interweaving to create the overall image. Emma Elizabeth wishes for people to push the boundaries and react to the idea of customization allowing Emma to custom weave a design for each buyer.

Two Farfalla rugs were on show, made with hand tufted 100% New Zealand wool & bamboo within the LOCAL MILAN, exhibition of which Emma Elizabeth, both curated and creatively directed through her other company LOCAL DESIGN.
